Last night at the Barbican was the first time I’ve seen Ólafur Arnalds perform and it certainly won’t be the last. Accompanied by the Britten Sinfonia the Icelandic power house producer and composer swayed and excited a full auditorium. His music is deeply moving adding an electronic and modern element to orchestral music.

Ólafur was masterfully supported by Greg Haines who received a standing ovation from the audience, mixing synths with his piano. I am happy to offer a money back guarantee, so sure am I that great things are in his future.

But when Ólafur came on stage you could feel the excitement; for the next ninety minutes we were to witness something special. He played most of his new album For Now I Am Winter and the beauty in the room was so potent, it was as though you were simultaneously spending a glorious day at the beach, having a massage and…anything else that makes up an amazing day.

Spend some time with Ólafur here and here are his upcoming shows. I’m going to be booking my tickets early, for sure.
